The company also updated its terms and conditions to reflect this change. However, until comprehensive legislation is enacted, public pushback remains the most effective way to curb data appetites exhibited by companies competing in the AI space.

Janet Haven, executive director of the think tank Data and Society, acknowledges that companies have an insatiable desire for data. Their business models revolve around collecting and exploiting user data. However, relying solely on individual users to protect themselves is not a sustainable solution. Data protection should be a societal issue addressed through comprehensive legislation and tighter industry regulations.
