X Shore, the renowned award-winning electric boat manufacturer from Sweden, is making waves again with the launch of their latest model, the X Shore Pro. This groundbreaking vessel is specifically designed for maritime professionals, catering to sectors such as shuttle services, diving, commercial traffic, and coast guards. In fact, one of the first boats sold will be transporting students to school in the Swedish archipelago.

The X Shore Pro is the company’s “natural evolution” following the success of their previous leisure vessels, the Eelex 8000 and the X Shore 1, which were launched in 2020 and 2022 respectively. It’s no surprise that the new boat maintains the distinctive blend of elegance, modularity, minimalism, and smart technology that X Shore is known for.

Built on the same 8-meter platform as the Eelex 8000, the X Shore Pro features the same drivetrain and 170kW electric motor. However, its exterior differs slightly, with options available in an Open or Cabin version. These configurations are tailored to suit individual use cases, allowing for the transportation of cargo or up to 10 passengers.

The startup has yet to disclose the exact top speed or price of the X Shore Pro, but they assure potential buyers that its range will vary depending on sea conditions, speed, load, and use case. The overall aim is to achieve between 24 and 48 hours of operation on a single charge.

Continuing their tradition of incorporating smart boating capabilities, the X Shore Pro includes features such as overboard detection, navigation, and range estimation. Additionally, it offers professional-oriented functionalities like autopilot and radar, providing users with enhanced safety and convenience.

X Shore’s decision to enter the professional segment stems from two main reasons. Firstly, they have observed that approximately 20% of their leisure boats are already being used for B2B purposes. According to Jenny Keisu, X Shore’s CEO, this market demand inspired them to create a dedicated offering for maritime professionals. Secondly, the company is committed to advancing zero-emission boating. Keisu believes that private individuals cannot single-handedly drive the transition towards sustainable boating, emphasizing the need to provide viable alternatives for businesses, governments, organizations, and municipalities.

The timing of the X Shore Pro launch also coincides with existing and upcoming restrictions on traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vessels. For instance, Amsterdam plans to ban diesel-powered boats from its canals by 2025, while Norway’s World Heritage-recognized fjords will enforce mandatory zero-emission shipping from 2026 onwards.

X Shore was originally founded in 2016 by Konrad Bergström, a well-known Swedish entrepreneur. However, the company underwent a reinvention in 2019 when Jenny Keisu took over as CEO. With its headquarters in Stockholm, X Shore sells its electric boats in Europe and North America, establishing its presence as a leading player in the industry.

The launch of the X Shore Pro affirms the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and meeting the diverse needs of maritime professionals. With its sleek design, cutting-edge technology, and eco-friendly electric motor, the X Shore Pro is set to revolutionize the way professionals navigate the world’s waters.
